Reflections
What have I learnt in this module?
In this module, I delved into design principles, blending creativity with technical expertise. As I absorbed lessons on it, I felt empowered to apply these concepts to my assignments.
What did I enjoy the most?
I particularly enjoyed applying design principles to my assignment during task 3. It made the entire process much easier, as I had a clear understanding of how to use design principles to develop a cohesive artistic concept. I love creating artwork that isn't constrained by limitations, as it allows me to explore my imagination and produce even greater pieces.
What did I not enjoy the most?
What I found least enjoyable was Task 2, where we were required to conduct research and identify design principles in the work of a chosen artist, linking it to the goal I had selected, which in turn connected to Task 3, I wish not to link with the final assignment in order to get in touch with the other unsdg goal.
What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I discovered that I have weaknesses in observation and composition skills. Learning about design principles helped me recognize these weaknesses, as I realized that creating artwork requires not only free imagination but also a strong ability to compose thoughts effectively.
What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
I no longer just create art without thinking about composition, which is a big shift. I've used the design ideas I've studied to my creative process, which has improved my capacity to use my imagination and creativity to create works of art in a creative way.
What could be improved in this module?
I believe that incorporating more hands-on practice would greatly enhance the learning experience. While note-taking from pre-recorded lecture videos is valuable, engaging in more practical exercises—such as creating artwork using different design principles—would provide a more immersive and effective learning opportunity.
