Class Summaries
Week 4: As a conclusion for this week class summaries, a good story has a clear beginning, middle, and end. The Story Spine helps shape this flow, guiding the audience through key moments. Themes give the story depth, often reflecting the character’s growth or a bigger message.
Week 5: As for this week, lecture are told that everything is formatted to make reading and filming easier, with one page roughly equal to a minute of screen time. It’s all about making sure the story comes across just right.
Week 6: This week is about storyboarding. Storyboarding is key for planning these details and ensuring everything fits together smoothly.
Project 2_Pitch Bible
For this particular assignment, we are told to create a pitch bible presentation in A4 landscape format including a cover page, logline, product specifications (action-adventure, 6-9-year-old audience, 30-second duration, 2D animation), synopsis, and character and world descriptions with images. Export it as a PDF. Additionally, record an 8-minute video pitching the content, keeping both the slides and your camera on and upload the video to YouTube.
I have draw some of the character and elements that would appears in the story and plan to added them into the presentation.
REFLECTION
Experience
For this assignment, I was to make a pitch bible for a 2D animation targeted at a 6-9-year-old audience, lasting 30 seconds. It started with a brainstorm of characters and story elements that I then had to illustrate and put into the presentation. I was asked to collate information from a pitch bible, including a logline, synopsis, character, and world descriptions, the specifications for the product, all the while clarity and focus on the core elements of the story should be maintained. I created an accompanying 8-minute video that accompanies the presentation, which explains the narration and how I envision this project.
Observation
The assignment showed me the use of brevity and clarity; the 30-second length made sure everything had to be compact and efficient. Designing characters and their inclusion in the presentation helped me visualize the world, but I also realized that it is a challenge to balance creativity against the limitations of a short format.
Findings
This project reminded me about structuring a pitch, presenting ideas clearly on the paper, and visual. Besides, the video pitch gave me an opportunity to work on clear and persuasive speech-the skill of telling about ideas in a professional environment. In the future, I will be working on balancing my creativity with practical constraints and enhancing my pitch delivery skills in projects.
